Persons having knowledge of wage and employment practices which are not in compliance with the minimum standards of these acts, and persons seeking advice or assistance concerning the application of the Federal wage garnishment law to specific situations, including persons seeking remedy to an illegal action under the law, should contact the nearest office of the Employment Standards Administration, Wage and Hour Division listed in the telephone directory under United States Government, Labor Department. If no listing is shown for you locality, contact the nearest district office of the Wage and Hour Division listed in Additional Contact Information - FMR Help under the Employment Standards Administration. Unless otherwise authorized, the names of persons making inquiries are kept confidential to the maximum extent possible under existing law.
Note: Each program will indicate whether applications are to be submitted to the Federal headquarters, regional or local office, or to a State or local government office.
Note: Grant payments may be made by a letter of credit, advance by Treasury check, or reimbursement by Treasury check.
Awards may be made by the headquarters office directly to the applicant, an agency field office, a regional office,
or by an authorized county office. The assistance may pass through the initial applicant for further distribution by
intermediate level applicants to groups or individuals in the private sector.
